We have unprecedented access to information now than ever before.
But that also has lead to an unprecedented loss of privacy.
That would be my main pro and con.
Also, I think advertising or TV shows has led to more aspiration. We want to have what we see the glamorous people on the TV or movies have. The pro is that a lot of us have become more affluent as a result. The con is that a lot of people have not and that there's been a rise in pollution and waste and exploitation from all the consumerism. It also leads to more depression, sometimes because our lives are not as fulfilled as what we see on TV, but because we see natural disasters or negative things on the news and feel sad and powerless about them.
Other than material things though, it has also made people more aware of democracy or of the evils of racism etc. We have become better people and movements in other countries have come up that encourage their governments to be more democratic like what they're seeing not just through TV but the internet now.
