due to the fact that more tax payers money has to be diverted for military purposes in other countries %26amp;its own defence.Britan had immenent danger from other european countries like germany%26amp;italy it had to spare much on its defence which is not case with U.S so many of the european allied powers which lost their supremacy and had to depend on US or USSR hence people of britan consider their nation a second grade power and a degraded financial state than before the warHow did the 2nd World War change the life of people in Britain?
women were allowed to work in fields and factories, etc. People were encouraged to grow own fruit/veg. People had rations until the 50s, and lots more. How did the 2nd World War change the life of people in Britain?
People got freedom and they didn't have to ration anything anymore\!!How did the 2nd World War change the life of people in Britain?
more freedom and opportunities for women, the building of the National Health Service - those in power were shocked at the bad condition of many of the conscripts from the cities. A united Euorpe, the setting up of the United Nations and Nato, human rights legislation - to protect communities from repeating the horrors of nazi Europe.

It also raised knowledge about other parts of the world to 'ordinary' people in Britain - who would not normally take much interest in other countries. Brought about a strong community spirit. In the long term, improved housing - many of the East End slums were destroyed and although housing supply was very limited for a while, new housing was built which improved standards. A new world meant that the citizens had to be better educated - and expected more which led to better standards in education and living.

On the down side, a massive debt and having to cow-tow to the Americans. Also, beginning of the end of the empire. We could no longer afford it.

Hope some of this helps. How did the 2nd World War change the life of people in Britain?
It empowered women, who had taken on mens roles while they were away fighting and made Britain realise they had a new workforce.
