Do some people really make radical life changes?

Is this possible...like a teacher deciding during a boring class, to go to Tahiti, then actually doing it?

Is this just in movies and books, or do real-life people actually change completely, suddenly, and permanently? Have you? Do you know anyone who has? Please share...

I quit my job and moved to the country because I wanted a less stressful life. Now there are new stresses (I hit a deer etc...) but I am glad I had the guts to do it. I am much happier. Most of my radical life changes have been a perspective switch brought on by travelling.Do some people really make radical life changes?
I do believe people make radical changes, however it's not usually 'sudden.' Something probably occurs to cause a shift in priorities. Getting older, going through a divorce, losing a child, etc., are all things that cause a shift in one's perspective of life and what they want to get out of it. I know many women that have made a major change in careers after divorcing. With education becoming more affordable with the help of financial aid, people are realizing that you really CAN be anything you want to be, and that it's never too late to continue higher education.

As for being impulsive - that's a different story altogether. I know men that have up and walked out on jobs to travel.. could be a mid-life crisis thing (and yes, that's a very real phenomenon!)Do some people really make radical life changes?
I've lived in 3 states in the past 2 years just because I wanted too.

Everything was going great too, but I just needed to do it.
