Have you ever had a life changing experience?

Like......Have you ever had a near death experience that changed your outlook/mentality on life for the better?

Or say for example you visited a pretty poor part of Africa and seen for yourself how some people live on a daily basis, then you return home very humble and don't take things for granted?

You know, anything like thatHave you ever had a life changing experience?
I had some pretty horrifying experiences on 9/11. Since then, I've been cynical, negative and developed pretty serious depression.

However, I did come out as a more empathetic person and I now take nothing for granted. So now I do a lot of volunteer work, treat those around me much better and take more time to %26quot;stop and smell the roses.%26quot;

EDIT: oh yeah.... I almost forgot... I'm terrified of airplanes, heights and high rise buildings now... which isn't very good considering I live in NYCHave you ever had a life changing experience?
Not like a near death experience or anything. A couple of summers ago I was working n a holiday centre for underprivileged children who go there because their parents can't afford holidays.

Seeing how incredibly difficult life was for them really opened m eyes to what some people go through. These kids were all between 6-13 and had gone through more than I could ever imagine. We had to drop one boy home because he was being too aggressive towards the other children, and we figured out why when we got to his house. His mum had just pinned a note to the front door basically saying she didn't want him back and to either take him back to the centre or leave him with a neighbour because she was tired of having him around.

That made me appreciate my family so much more.Have you ever had a life changing experience?
I used to shag around alot, i once had a foursome with a hot chick. After few days, my dicck started hurting, when i was pisssssing, the colour was bright yellow, which is strange. the top part of my helmet, was in pain. So i tel my best mate the situation, he says to me go to sex clinic. So i went there, they took my pisss sample and blood sample, then gave me a pack of condoms. I was well excited, free condoms, not bad eh.

After 2 weeks i get a call to say im fine, there is nothing wrong with me, but recommended me to be careful and always wear protection.

This has been a life changing experience for me, i dont want spots on my bull bags or AIDS, sh*t like that.Have you ever had a life changing experience?
Charity changed my life, it made me understand what I have.

Being raped changed my life, it taught me to be stronger.

Seeing my dog die made me realize how fragile life is.

St. Thomas' oceans changed my life, it taught me about natural beauty still left in the world.

Lots of things can change your life, just have to pay attention!Have you ever had a life changing experience?
every time I go out and take drugs :) in moderation of course. there is nothing like magic mushrooms or LSD for turning over new leaves/finding answers within yourselfHave you ever had a life changing experience?
I visit the pits every time I close my eyes and they are from all over I think and i hate it its horrible seeing the sufferingHave you ever had a life changing experience?
no, only life changing as it changed my life to ****.Have you ever had a life changing experience?

Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?

to avoid one people is highest in economic and other is very lowCan we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
Uh, that's called communism dude. No thank you!Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
You mean wealth redistribution which means communism? It does not work my friend. Read your history books. You are always going to have those that don't want to work as hard and make it in life. Why should they get the money of those who strive hard to make a good life for themselves? Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
Where does the money come from???Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
the problem with this theory is that it makes people not strive to reach the best.

Tell me this, if you have the choice of going to school for 8 years, becoming a doctor, and you find out your getting paid the same as a janitor who dropped out of highschool, would you really want to become a doctor?

Its all about there being a reason to strive to be the best, if theres no reward theres no point.

People come up with innovation to better there lifes, and usually this day that means money. There would be no xbox360, ipod, fast computers, ect ect if it wasn't for profit. Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
It would not work because then people would have no incentive to improve their life by working harder. I know I wouldn't want to be an accountant anymore if I got the same salary as if I layed in bed all day. To answer your question, it would change everyone's life because society would collapse. Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
WTF. This is socialism. I'm pissed now.Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
then Walmart wouldn't be able to sell cheap s h i t and we'd get p'd off because we'd have to spend more. Can we change poor people life by giving normal fix sallary to all people?
Good intention but bad idea. Rich people are rich because they work hard and are productive. Poor people are poor because they are lazy, dead weight for society to bear. There are exception of course but if you give all of the money to the poor, within 10 years it will go back to the riches. The poor people only know how to spend money, they don't know how to make money.

  • I am writing an essay on how people houses change as our life change. few volunteers please?

    the question is

changes of the ordinary people's life which affected the houses they live in today.

also if you think i'l posted this in the wrong category please inform me. thx

i'm studying architecture and i'm writing an essay on vernacular architecture and in one of the questions i am asked is; how our homes change/ affected as our lives change. in terms of becoming more modernized.

if some people could give me some examples i would very much appreciate it. its all research am doing at the moment.I am writing an essay on how people houses change as our life change. few volunteers please?
so what you mean is as the houses became more modernised the people inside them where affected???

If that is the same line of thought you require, my mum [not that old] can recall it was her job to blacken the doorstep every week, empty out the fire place daily and either hand wash the family wash or take it down to the local laundry..........

Basically as thing became easier / more streamlined then it would stand to reason that peoples lives within the houses would get easier, yet from what I see people spend less and less time in their homes than ever before.

How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?

I just think this concept is very unrealistic. Maybe that's why divorce is so prevalent, you know? How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
I agree I think people feel a certain way at a certain time and act on it i.e. get married because it feels right then, people can't predict how they are going to feel in 2,5,10 years etc. yet assume they will feel the same way. I don't think people get married with the intent of getting divorced. We do grow, we change, but I think when you really do love someone you work hard at getting through those changes and hard times, and often people give up way too soon, hence the high divorce rate, then they start the cycle over with someone new. I like the idea of marriage but i don't believe in it. I will never get married because I have seen feelings change from personal experience and with others, nothing lasts forever....How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
Divorce is prevalent because people get married to the wrong person at the wrong time and/or for the wrong reasons. In today's world, pleasing self has become the priority over commitment, loyalty, integrity and honor. Too many rush into marriage out of fear of being alone or unloved, seeking security (instead of learning to take care of themselves) or to escape a bad situation. They don't really know themselves well at all, and often refuse to see their mate for who he/she really is. They have unrealistic expectations and become easily disappointed when married life doesn't turn out to be the fantasy they expected. They think that no one else has ever felt what they're feeling, and it's unfortunate that they often don't listen to the wisdom of those who've been where they are or who have their best interests at heart. Instead, they lunge headlong and ill-prepared into a train wreck.

Marriage to the right person is fabulous, but it requires work, compromise, patience and protection--and from both halves of the couple. And it's not 50%-50%; it's 100%-100%. These days, people just seem to be less apt to put forth the effort.

You know that you were meant to spend the rest of your life with the person because you just know. I hated being told that, but it's true. You see your mate objectively (warts 'n all!) yet you still feel an undeniable inner peace at the thought of spending the rest of your life with him/her. You don't just want to be together, you feel that you were destined to be together--but not necessarily the way it's depicted in the movies.

You and your Mr./Mrs. Right have the same core values, work ethic, standards and beliefs system--those things aren't likely to change as you age. You think alike and both bring emotional balance, independence and maturity to the relationship. Because you are alike in these basics, you share and work toward the same goals together throughout the rest of your lives. This helps you to grow closer together, not further apart. How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
You never know. You just have to adapt to changes and be a better person yourself.

Divorce happens when we no longer want to accept and work our way through all the changes. When we insist on things and people being the same throughout OUR lives.

How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
I think its very realistic. I see where your coming from though. Your definitely right, people do change constantly. Nobody is the same in the 20's like the were in their 40's. That's part of life, but the reason why marriages still work is the fact that some people are able to find another human being that they get along with, who they have important values in common with. Most people that stay married happily are people who know their with someone that will try to work hard on showing them the up most respect, and someone that has helped them grow in a good way, most importantly, they are with someone they are capable of communicating with very well. That's really all it takes. As long as both people try hard to treat each other well, things will be ok in the long run. Otherwise the divorce rate would be 99% not 50%.How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
I don't think there's a cut and dry answer to that. Some people are well-suited for one long relationship while others aren't. Some people feel marriage is necessary while others do not. I've never been married but I've had both a seven year and an almost nine year relationship that were wonderful but eventually over time we grew apart. It happens! How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
People do NOT change constantly. People have core values and beliefs that they hold on to, and these govern the way they act.

Lots of people think that they can change someone, but it is a rare event when someone actually gets someone to change.

If you are compatible with someone, and have similar beliefs and core values, it is not difficult to live together. When you have this, and love, too, it is very possible to spend the rest of your life together.

    Regards,

DanHow do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
Ya but I think of dealing with change as half the fun!!!

Most complain that being with one person all the time is boring but I find that the opposite is true. That person will change a million times during their life time. It is the fun of rediscovering you mate that adds spice to your life. How do you know if you want to spend the rest of your entire life with one person? People constanly change ?
Yes, people change. It's unrealistic to expect them not to, besides would you really want to be married to the exact same person 10, 20, 30 years down the road? It's how the change is handled and if you grow together or apart as you change that determines how successful your marriage will be. If you talk about goals and dreams and 5 year and 10 year plans on a regular basis, those changes are more likely to be compatible with your spouse than if you don't communicate.

Something you read and very glad you did? something you feel enlightened you about people/religion/politics. i do understand the bible is very popular. What past century novels/authors have changed your view of life or people?
I think I'll say Contact, by Carl Sagan. He was an astronomer who spent his entire life trying to bring Science closer to people with succint explanations, though no less charming. That particular book is a well of good thoughts and highly interesting Science matters pleasantly mingled with fiction. It talks about religion, too, in a way that has won me over instantly. What past century novels/authors have changed your view of life or people?

John Steinbeck was the one who made the deepest impression on me. I have recently finished reading East of Eden and Of Mice and Men, and I liked both immensely. Not only because I am fond of 'ranch stories' but the novels also cast a different light on the general feelings and disposition of people. Some pieces of literature suggest that there's a fathomless chasm between good and evil people, thus the story constantly tilts in favour of a specific lead character (like the Harry Potter series). In Steinbeck's works there are peaks and troughs in the way the characters behave and their acts are so natural by courtesy of this. They act ill-advisedly, they are even rude sometimes, they are understanding, thoughtful, wistful and wicked. His protagonists perfectly illustrate the point that we have a ragbag of different feelings and that they compound with each other. What past century novels/authors have changed your view of life or people?
I read 2 George Orwell books when I was in my early teens, %26quot;1984%26quot; and %26quot;Animal Farm.%26quot; Those books opened my then naive eyes to the power of governments, secrets %26amp; lies, social classes and its rigid though unseen structure and how we as a race influence and terrorize each other in our struggle to reach our own selfish goals. What past century novels/authors have changed your view of life or people?
I recently had an obsession with teen literature. It's simple and it gets to the point.

Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?

    Please share!

How was the government transformed? How did life change for people, and why was the revolution needed?Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
After considering it, I'd say the French Revolution, ultimately left the people in a better state. The Russian one brought about communism, and more people died over the years.Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
French you very seldom hear of it.Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
both, they turned from unreasonable monarchies to republics; from aristocratic laws to capitalist laws; from slavery to more social rights. the french is more reasonable though.Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
The French Revolution, coming earlier, was an inspiration for the commoners and mif\ddle-classes in many other countries, and a source of fear to the rulers in othe countries. It was a model for the subsequent revolutions in USA, e.g. for how to set up a legislature, and to some extent was a model for democracy, though limited y social customs e.g. male sufferage.

The Russian Revolutions was desperately needed also, and although also there was much bloodshed and unrest as a result, the standard of living and life expectancy of the people were much more dramatically affected and more quickly than in France. Since Russia would not, in my opinion, without the ruthless power of Stalin, have managed to contribute the key factors in the defeat of Hitler, the West in general owes the Russian Revolutionaries a great deal, not that people from USA are likely to acknowedge this.Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
The French Revolution removed the monarchy but it was replaced by a very ineffective government the wasted time on tribunals and lopping of heads rather than progressing prosperity and forming an effective form or representative government. The French sought to copy the American government the French fore fathers were not as capable as their American counterparts. Eventually Napoleon took command and under the code Napoleon %26quot;which still bear檚 weight in the French legal systems today%26quot; formed a Republic. After the Napoleonic wars and the reformation of the French republic the French people did benefit. But it is debatable during the post revolution - Napoleonic era to say the French populace benefited.

The Russian revolution on the other hand could not be considered to have bettered the Russian peoples. The revolution was extremely blooded, and after the revolution the resettlement and various purges could not have been a benefit to the majority of the population. The revolution did not benefit the average person other than the populace no longer being subject to a Czar of hereditary lineage being replaced by ruthless communist party dictatorship power struggle.

Both Luis XIV and Czar Nicholas III were weak leaders, not in touch with there populace. They were both internally and externally weak leaders.

Both governments were replaced by short lived revolutionary governments and both fell to a dictator. Both post revolution governments were unable to fulfill the ideals and desires of the revolution and the new governments that were formed was left the general population with little to no improvement over its predecessor.Which Revolution left people better off, the French or Russian revolution?
Both revolutions were needed, in that the people were in such great poverty, compared to the extreme opulence of the wealthy rulers and nobility, and suffered from weak and inept leadership -- an unjust situation. Both revolutions began in a similar way, a violent overthrow, mob riots and looting, and the monarchs imprisoned and then killed.

Long term, the French Revolution left the people better off -- after Napoleon, France became a democratic / social republic, and the people have prospered under a government with elected officials, similar to the U.S. government. The Russian Revolution led to Communism / Socialism, a completely opposite form of government from democracy and capitalism. Stalin brought many years of terror and murdered millions of his own people as well as those of neighboring countries that the Soviets conquered.

My life changed the day I started really wanting to live for Jesus. I want Him to be the center of my life all the time, and I see how He has blessed me financially and spiritually and emotionally. He has healed me of asthma and allergies. I see dreams from Him and He gives me a hope and a future. I have a purpose now. I confessed that He is Lord and I am living for Him. I still sin, but He forgives and we move closer together. Please would you tell me about the day your life changed?

Every day is a life changing event. And no one particular day marked anything life changing because any changes of that nature required more than one day. I suppose the day I decided to start hatha yoga practice and the first day was an 8 hour event that required all my internal force to concentrate sufficiently against all my being of contrary behaviors. Please would you tell me about the day your life changed?
