Name some famous people who undertook a journey that changed their life?

I need inspiration because I'm doing a project. I need to identify a journey and show how it has had a significant impac on a particular aspect of life of the person or people who have undertaken it.

Just name some people and tell me very briefly what journey it was. (Rehab, war etc etc) It has to have a significant impact on them though.Name some famous people who undertook a journey that changed their life?
william wallace -- he brought freedom to scotland. he ended up being exicuted by the english.

joan of Arc -- fought for frances freedom from the english. she was eventually burned at the stake.

both met their fate due to their conquestName some famous people who undertook a journey that changed their life?
The concept of taking a journey to achieve a higher level of spiritual awakening (and to become a great religious leader) is found in just about all religions: Abraham (with Isaac/Ishmael), Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Joseph Smith, etc.

For secular examples, consider how a change of location impacted the works of various artists: the travels of Leonardo da Vinci, the impact of the South Pacific on Gaugin's painting, the influence of folk-music collecting on the work of Ralph Vaughn Williams, Bela Bartok, and Woody Guthrie, etc.Name some famous people who undertook a journey that changed their life?

  • How does people's life change when they go into dorms ?

do people become more open and more socialized because they go into dorms ?? does life get better and stuff ? can anyone that has moved to dorms describe their experience in change of life ?How does people%26039;s life change when they go into dorms ?
Living in a dorm is usually a person's first taste of freedom. You are away from home for a long period of time, no one to sit there an tell you to go study, take a shower, go to bed, etc. It's a great feeling! Here are some things I remembered about dorms:

    - Some are single sex, co-ed by floor or even co-ed by room. My freshman year, I was friends with the guy next door and the gal next to him.

    - Where I was, you could opt for a single or a double. I wanted the single - I liked my private space. Plus I thought I'd go for the double and wouldn't you know it, they tried to place me with a gal I disliked from HS. But I have friends who made life-long good friends with the college roommates. My husband is one of them. There was a gang of 8 that he hung around with in college and he is good friends with them to these days. I have also heard horror stories - the boyfriend/girlfriend who stays over all the time (it's cramped enough already!), the late night studier, the snorer, etc. Try to get a roommate you are compatible with!

    - You can definitely party in the dorms. We would have %26quot;around the worlds%26quot; - where each room had some alcohol and no one in the hallway would no any better.

    - I don't think I changed very much just by moving into the dorms (didn't become more social or anything). You just make a lot of friends.

Have fun! It's the best time of life! How does people%26039;s life change when they go into dorms ?
living in a dorm will hopefully help you become more open minded. people are away from their high school identity and tend to start over.

you will meet so many different people and have experiences like none other. you even become like a little family because you all cook together, hang out together, etc.... nothing like pulling an all nighter with your floormates and then all going to breakfast together the next morning... or all going for a night out together. i lived in the dorms my freshman year and it was one of the best experiences of my life! How does people%26039;s life change when they go into dorms ?
you lose your privacy and your night life becomes an open book to the dorm, but you will make more friends as when you sleep aloneHow does people%26039;s life change when they go into dorms ?
Well in my experience, the dorm life was incredible. Maybe it was just a unique situation with my floor in my dorm, but for two years everyone on my floor was great friends. We all just left our doors open and openly invited in any guests. At any moment a number of friends could be found hanging out in the lobby. Many of the forty guys that lived on the floor that year are some of my best friends to this day. But it is what you make it. You will have to make an effort to meet people at first and hopefully you get lucky and don't get a bunch of shut-ins who always have their doors closed and keep to themselves.

The rooms themselves are small and cramped, however. There's not really getting around that fact. How does people%26039;s life change when they go into dorms ?
I actually hate living in my dorm. Nobody really talks on my floor and some girls are quite mean. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. I don't like living in a cramped space with someone else and having no privacy. Trying to sleep while your neighbors are playing loud music is frustrating. You have freedom, you can stay up as late as you want and whatever, but I don't think that my life has gotten any better. Everything depends on your dorm and personality, etc. Good luck!

For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?

We are doing a history fair project on Harvey Milk and are trying to get a modern perspective for our project. One of his main legacies was his advocacy of the importance for gay people to come out, and the effect that this had on the gay movement. How did your life change after coming out, and do you think that this decision impacted your community in terms of general acceptance of homosexuals. For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
I am 52 years old. Coming out at 18 was the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life (so far anyway, you never know - lol). I could not imagine my life any other way. What a great question! If you want more information, you may email me through the site. I'm always happy to help out researchers, but would rather not do all that here. (Shhh! don't tell anyone, sometimes its not worth the effort to type all that stuff here on this site, lol again!)For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
My life has changed for the better. Living in the closet came with telling lies, deflecting any topics that had to do with me, and being quiet and lonely. After I decided to come out I have become more confident, less shy and more vocal about my true feelings. Being out at work has also been great because I am respected for my quality of work and leadership and everyone knows that I am gay so it's less of a taboo subject at work. Everyone knows that I am gay at work so if we hire anyone else in our company they know that it is ok to be out and proud. For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
No one in school cares. None of my friends care. Only old idiotic conservitives care. Including my parents.

Overall it was a good experiance. For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
I don't know if your project applies to Indonesian as well. Nothing change much with my life after I come out. Possibly because I don't look much like the stereotypical gay that they believe in.For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
No i was totally rejected by my whole communityFor any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
Positive. I can live %26quot;freely%26quot; :]For any gay people- How did coming out affect your life? Do you feel that it was a positive experience?
Harvey realized he was going to be assasinated , and made a tape adressing the issue of the closet . When you come out , you learn unexpected things . Often someone you thought was strait approches you and lets you know they are also , quietly , gay . Never forget that Harvey Milk laid down his life for gay rights and gay people .

How did the nomos physis debate changed the lives of people in the time of socrates?

    1. The Nomos-Physis debate gained momentum during the time of Socrates and this has plagued the philosopher ever since. His quest for knowledge spanned the inner life of man as well as his the social community he is engaged in. Describe how this debate changed the lives of the people in the community Socrates lived in. Does Socrates's dictum %26quot;virtue is wisdom%26quot; (to know the good is to do the good) actually change lives of men? If it does, how so? If not, why not?How did the nomos physis debate changed the lives of people in the time of socrates?
not during but after Plato published his thoughts

How has life changed for the South Vietnamese people since it fell to the Communist forces of the North?

For the people who live in the south of Vietnam, they no longer fear assassination at the hands of the Americans, or their Vietnamese allies.

Asking any question about Vietnam often gets very biased answers from Americans who still cannot get over their morally superior complexes, and links to a questionable Wikipedia pages. These types have a lot to say about the education/labor camps, but always fall short on CIA assassination programs like Operation Phoenix.

How has life changed for the South Vietnamese people since it fell to the Communist forces of the North?
Well for a start the Americans aren't dropping napalm on their children any more. That must be more comfortable. How has life changed for the South Vietnamese people since it fell to the Communist forces of the North?
well, for a start, about 35,000 South Vietnamese who trusted American promises to stand by them were taken off to %26quot;re-education camps%26quot; by the Communists and worked to death......

the Humong people of the Central Highlands were pretty much exterminated....How has life changed for the South Vietnamese people since it fell to the Communist forces of the North?
Many people in the cities (especially professionals) were forced into the countryside, became farmers. Thousands were sent to 're-education' camps; to be indoctrinated with Communism.

    More info here, under 'Postwar'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VietnamPosHow has life changed for the South Vietnamese people since it fell to the Communist forces of the North?
The country side zones where city folks were forcibly relocated to to become farmers were called %26quot;new economic zone%26quot;, which like %26quot;re-education camps%26quot;, were no more than pretty names for punishment and revenge meted out to %26quot;reactionary%26quot; elements.

Besides these two types of tragedies, thousand perished in their dangerous escape in high seas in quest for freedom. They'd rather die than live in the %26quot;communist utopia%26quot;.

What does it mean when people say ' Music changes people's lives'?

What does it mean when people say ' Music changes people's lives and the people who listen to it.' I've heard pop stars say this but what do they mean it can change the life of who listens to itWhat does it mean when people say %26039; Music changes people%26039;s lives%26039;?
Simply put- inspiration for life direction.

Most of the pop stars who say this attribute the influence of music to their career and sound. What does it mean when people say %26039; Music changes people%26039;s lives%26039;?
    Music Influences people basically.

Im not sure about everyone else but I know alot of the times it influences my mood. What does it mean when people say %26039; Music changes people%26039;s lives%26039;?
Music plays an important part in the lives of people of all ages. It can have symbolic significance for nation-states and regions, can be a source of deep emotional experience for the individual, or can be an expression of life-style, image and social belonging. Music affects, but is itself affected by forces influenced by different purposes and intentions of an economic, ideological, educational, and political nature. The landscape of music is extensive ?so, too, is that of music education. A teaching situation in Music in the Swedish school can vary. Helena plays the violin, Marcus plays the electric bass, Frida plays the trumpet, and Erik plays nothing at all but has a great interest in music and knows a great deal about the music that interests him. All are pupils at compulsory school, where they have a class teacher in Music. Helena, Marcus, and Frida also go to the Municipal School of Arts, where they have a second music teacher. Their music teachers have been educated at one of Sweden's colleges of music. What do we know about, and what do we need to learn about, Helena's, Marcus's, Frida's, and Erik's relation to music? What music experiences have they? Can this experience be counted as knowledge?

Music is linked with the person and the person's interaction with the world around. It is tested and judged on the basis of the person's own experience and everyday practical knowledge. With regard to young people this comes out clearly in, for example, Drotner 1994, Economou 1994 and Stæ°“lhammar 1995. In the world of young people there are no fixed boundaries between subjects, no dissection of subjects into fragments. If young people's own experience conflicts with the process of knowledge acquisition such as can be found in, for example, the school, it is understandable that their values, attitudes, and praxis will begin to emerge outside the framework of the established institutions.

Music is a major leisure interest for virtually all young people. Though linked with image and body, music itself is at the centre. It can involve video, film, graffiti, rock concerts, their own singing or playing, clothes, style, disco, work-out, jazz dance, body-building, jogging, skateboard, snowboard, in-line skates, or computers. Almost all young people say that they are interested in music ?but what do they mean by music?

It is sometimes said that young people have a passive attitude to music, that they mainly encounter it in a context of reception. This, though, is a misconception. Most of them are active with regard to music. They compose at the computer or use music in conjunction with other leisure pursuits. Music is important in their lives. They participate in the changes occurring in the musical community. The computer has blurred the boundaries between listening to music and actively practising it. Everyone has the chance to compose, arrange, and mix music. Music is combined with other cultural pursuits. The voluntary music schools that have existed in the majority of municipalities in Sweden are being transformed into schools of arts, and the work of the latter is often pursued in co-operation with the compulsory school. Courses are offered in drama, dance, art education, and music.

All songs have a certain meaning to them. They also set a mood, take for example, if your sad or mad, there is always a song to help you through whatever it is that your feeling. Music can influence people in all kinds of ways you just have to find the way that it will help you change. What does it mean when people say %26039; Music changes people%26039;s lives%26039;?
oh believe me, one album has changed my life, and it wasn't some crap emo, pop, or rap person. Its called classical music. It didn't change the things that happened around me, it just changed the way I look at things, the way i perceive things. God I love that composer. What does it mean when people say %26039; Music changes people%26039;s lives%26039;?
    i believe it.

i have listened to a lot of music but only a few artists/ bands/ music i have listened to has influenced me in some way, or the lyrics to a song can give out a message which can make you look at things with a different perspective.

it's true and happens every day to everyone. even if you don't realise it at the time.
